Fabric weight, measured in grams per square meter (GSM), is one of the first decisions in any garment design. It directly affects drape, opacity, breathability, and cost.
As a rule of thumb: lightweight fabrics (60–150 GSM) suit linings, blouses, and summer wear; mid-weight (150–250 GSM) works for t-shirts, dresses, and most casual garments; heavier fabrics (250+ GSM) are ideal for outerwear, hoodies, and structured pieces.
Weight is only half the story — construction matters equally. A 180 GSM jersey and a 180 GSM single jersey behave very differently. Always request physical samples and test drape on the body before committing to production.
We offer custom weight development from 120 to 350 GSM, so your collection can be built around the exact hand-feel you want.
